Outreach is about increasing college student mental health awareness through prevention, education and stigma reduction. Through outreach, we are able to connect with the larger UWEC community in unique ways outside of the clinical services that we provide.

UWEC Counseling Services offers outreach presentations to the UWEC community. These presentations can include an overview of the mental health services that we offer, stress management skills, self-care, or other requested topics.

We do presentations for classes, student groups and others. If you are interested in a presentation or having Counseling Services present at one of your events, please complete the following form.

Students and staff - Outreach Request Form (students and staff)

If you have any questions about outreach, please contact Paula Chiara.

How to Identify and Respond to the Mental Health Needs of UWEC Students (90 minutes)

This presentation is designed to help faculty and staff increase awareness of mental health concerns on campus, identify ways that they can help students in distress, explore setting boundaries with students, and increase knowledge of the available referral resources.

Campus Connect Suicide Prevention Training (2 hours)

This 2-hour, interactive training provides foundational knowledge and skills for any person to be able to respond and help someone who is in a crisis, including those who may be thinking about suicide. Using discussion, activities, and group interaction participants will learn about key warning signs for suicide, how to respond to someone who is in crisis, ask about suicidal thinking, encourage help-seeking, and connect people to supportive resources for the help they need. This training is designed for anyone who wants to build their confidence in being able to respond to a person in distress who may (or may not) be thinking about suicide.

Additional Faculty/Staff presentations available upon request
