Student EDI Development & Certificate

Are you interested in helping us make UW-Eau Claire inclusive, welcoming, and safe for all Blugolds? Whether you already consider yourself an ally to the Queer community or are new to the conversation, the GSRC offers a number of educational opportunities. While we continuously develop new training programs, the following are permanently on offer and open to all university departments, offices, student organizations, and communities throughout the Chippewa Valley.

Safe Space Training
Each 2-hr. training covers quite a bit of ground. Utilizing a social justice framework, participants unpack the LGBTQIA+ acronym while examining intersectional representations of the Queer community, navigating discomfort, and strategizing effective advocacy.

Bystander Intervention: Standing Up to Prevent Sexual Assault
UW-Eau Claire is dedicated to promoting a cultural shift in the norms associated with harassment and sexual assault (within and beyond our campus community). Bystander intervention examines a variety of issues, including (but not limited to), the bystander effect, consent, victim blaming, rape culture, and the differences and similarities between rape, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. Each training session is either one or two hours (by request).

Trans 101
In this 2-hr. training session, participants learn to differentiate between sex and gender as well as the implications of both categorical identities. The remainder of this session highlights the rich diversity of trans experiences within the United States, with particular attention paid to trans youth, adolescents, and adults. All information provided reflects peer reviewed, data-driven research and seeks to separate fact from fiction. What's the T? Register for this training, and find out!
