In matters of confidentiality policies and procedures, counseling services follows the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, the American College Personnel Association, and the International Association of Counseling Services. If you are a faculty/staff member, parent, or friend of a student who you believe may benefit from our services, please contact us for a consultation with one of our counselors.

Please note that once someone is a client of our service, all information is confidential and requires a signed release by the client indicating what information can be shared and with whom it can be shared with.

Under ethical and legal requirements, your counselor or psychologist would break confidentiality in the event of clear and imminent danger to yourself or another person. Wisconsin law requires that counselors disclose information regarding present child abuse or neglect. Such disclosure would not happen without your knowledge. In certain legal proceedings, confidential information may be disclosed by court order. This is a rare occurrence and would not happen without your knowledge. Our counselors may discuss your case with other staff members. All information shared among these professionals is confidential.
