Majors and Minors in Kinesiology
In the Department of Kinesiology, you'll explore issues that affect movement across the human lifespan and work closely with faculty through hands-on courses and research. Our various community partnerships place you in internships and other clinical experiences that will provide you opportunities to improve both your practical knowledge and clinical skills. All these experiences come together to give you a head start towards a career in the field of your choice.

Meet the Faculty
The Department of Kinesiology offers students the opportunity to engage with community members to learn professional skills while improving the health outcomes of the community. Students gain practical career skills while helping community members achieve their personal health goalssupporting health and wellness across the Chippewa Valley. Unique programs like Cancer Recovery and Fitness, Physical Activity and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities in the Eau Claire area (PRIDE), Homeschool Physical Education and more provide health and fitness opportunities to people of all ages and abilities.
When you do kinesiology research at UW-Eau Claire, you’ll learn practical skills to use in your career. Our faculty work closely with you, providing individualized attention while you dive into your research interests. From studying the impact of load bearing vests on the health and function of on-duty police officers to the effect of implementing physical activity programs for individuals with disabilities — a wide range of research topics are available for study.
The work you do could be presented at regional, national, or international conferences, or published in a research journal that specializes in topics related to kinesiology.

If I had to pick a mentor on campus it would easily be Dr. Janot. I've had the opportunity to work with him through being the president of the Kinesiology club, and he's been a big help to me. If it's a class concern, a research concern, anything — I can go to him. I think it is a really special opportunity here at UW-Eau Claire for students to get to know their professors.

Going on exchange in New Orleans allowed me to continue my academic studies while simultaneously experiencing a culture and area completely different from what I had grown up in. I was able to experience Mardi Gras parades, a cooking class that focused on foods traditional to New Orleans, crawfish boils, ziplining over a swamp, visiting the National World War 2 museum, and so much more — all while advancing my education at the same time.
