Undergraduates and Graduates

  • Wait for your degree to post and show on your transcript before applying for your license.
  • Wait to receive an email from the UW-Eau Claire licensing office with instructions on how to apply for your license. This email will come only after your degree has been posted on your transcript and you have completed all licensure exams.
  • After you have received your email from the licensing office, apply for your license using DPI’s Educator LicensingOnline (ELO) system.
  • All student teachers will have information about licensing, the licensing process and answers to commonly asked licensing questions covered during their seminar course.

Out of State Licensing

If you plan to work in another state, you will need to check the licensing requirements for that state. The Certification Requirements by State webpage has links to teacher licensing agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Most states require UW-Eau Claire's signature verifying your program completion, please forward that state’s form to UW-Eau Claire's certification officer, Donna Anders, andersdm@uwec.edu. We cannot answer specific questions regarding licensing in another state. State licensing requirements can change at any time.
