Billy Felz named vice chancellor for enrollment management

Billy Felz has been named vice chancellor for enrollment management at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire after serving as the interim leader in the cabinet-level administrative position the past two years.

In making the announcement, Chancellor James Schmidt says Felz’s experience in the interim position demonstrated data-driven focus on recruiting and retaining students. Felz displayed his ability to support and shape an effective divisional team that will enable him to continue UW-Eau Claire’s momentum in strengthening its enrollment and assuring student success, according to the chancellor.

“Billy has demonstrated that enrollment and student success must be a campuswide effort and I am excited by the many collaborations with academic departments, marketing, admissions, student life and EDI that he has been able to create and to strengthen,” Schmidt says. “I am confident that he has the vision and energy to lead this important division.”

Felz says he is honored and excited to continue his work as vice chancellor for enrollment management.

“In this role I get to connect with so many people to promote the fantastic opportunities and incredible success stories on our campus,” Felz says. “For me, the greatest part of this job is the opportunity to serve as a resource to current students who find themselves needing support or assistance.”  

Felz has been at UW-Eau Claire since 2015, serving as assistant dean for the College of Business, executive director for enrollment management, special assistant to the vice chancellor of enrollment management, and executive director of the Advising, Retention and Career Center (ARCC).

Felz will oversee Admissions, ARCC, Blugold Central, Housing and Residence Life, and Recreation and Sport Operations. He also will coordinate enrollment management at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County. During the past two years he has helped to lead campuswide efforts to increase student retention, increase applications and expand enrollment on both campuses.
