Biography
Briana Rockler, PhD, MPH, CHES is an Assistant Professor of Public Health in the Department of Public Health and Environmental Studies and a Public Health Scientist. Her work centers on mindful approaches to population health promotion using research. She is particularly interested in evaluating health systems, policies, programs, and practice with a holistic lens, considering a wide array of factors that influence health. Using mixed methods, her approach goes beyond traditional metrics to encompass social, environmental, economic, and cultural dimensions of health and wellness. At UWEC, Dr. Rockler’s research has investigated the influence of the campus food environment on student dietary habits, and water security (access and behaviors) among elementary school-aged children. She also serves as the faculty advisor for the UWEC Public Health Club. Dr. Rockler received her MPH with an emphasis in Nutrition from Kansas State University and PhD in Public Health from Oregon State University. The core of her graduate work focused upon equity and access to the federal food safety net and associated health outcomes among rural farming communities.
