A biology graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has been interviewed for an episode of CBS’s “60 Minutes” set to air on Mother’s Day.

Dr. Michelle Pickett, a 2005 graduate, is a physician specializing in pediatric emergency medicine at Children’s Wisconsin/Medical College of Wisconsin. Pickett has been interviewed by CBS regarding her medical practice, research and youth suicide screening program. The segment is expected to appear on the Mother’s Day edition of “60 Minutes” at 6 p.m. CST Sunday, May 8.

"I’m proud of my team and hospital for leading the way in pediatric mental health care," Pickett says. "It’s an honor to have '60 Minutes' recognize our hard work and dedication to children."

An associate professor of pediatrics, Pickett was recently featured in the 2022 list of “40 Under 40” young professionals honored by the Milwaukee Business Journal. The profile reads, in part:

“In 2018, Dr. Michelle Pickett piloted a suicide screening program at Children’s Wisconsin that today is a standard part of care for kids 11 and older who pass through the Children’s Wisconsin ER. While her focus remains on improving the care kids receive, she is helping to change the overall conversation around mental health for all children.”
