The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is collaborating with WEAU, the official media partner for grand opening week at The Sonnentag, to invite the community and people across the Chippewa Valley to visit and learn more about the $122 million facility.
“We are thrilled to be working with WEAU as we encourage the public to visit The Sonnentag, which is a shining example of philanthropy, partnership and progress,” says Kimera Way, president of the Eau Claire Community Complex, the entity that owns the Sonnentag facilities. “It is a state-of-the-art facility that will benefit UW-Eau Claire and the community and shape the future of sports and entertainment in northwest Wisconsin.”
Viewers can look forward to exclusive coverage throughout grand opening week at The Sonnentag, including live reports featuring leaders from UW-Eau Claire, The Sonnentag and the community. A special tribute to first responders will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 11, to recognize and honor those affected by the attacks that occurred on that fateful date in 2001. WEAU will stream that ceremony live and talk to local first responders.
“WEAU 13 News is proud to partner with UW-Eau Claire to celebrate the opening of The Sonnentag,” says Terry McHugh, WEAU executive vice president and general manager. “Our promise to our viewers is to put community first. We are excited to offer live coverage of the grand opening of this highly anticipated facility and look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with Chancellor Schmidt and UW-Eau Claire.”
The entertainment highlights during grand opening week include a comedy performance by Brian Regan and a concert by country music superstar Chris Young.
