Biography
Born and raised in Thailand, Wanrudee Buranakorn later earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama. Before joining the Department of Art + Design in 2007, she has taught at the University of Alabama, Ohio University, Ringling School of Art and Design, the University of South Carolina at Salkehatchie, Penland School of Crafts, Colleton County Arts Council, and Asheville BookWorks.
Her work employs varieties of alternative printing processes including silver liquid emulsion (Liquid Light), cyanotype, van dyke, kallitype, and platinum, in addition to traditional gelatin silver prints and digital. Her work has been exhibited nationally in a number of galleries and museums. Recent exhibits have appeared in ARC Gallery and Woman Made Gallery in Chicago (IL), Flash Gallery (CO), Fayetteville Museum of Art (SC), Bare Hands Gallery (AL), Asheville BookWorks Gallery (NC), and Sara Meltzer Gallery in Chelsea (NY).
Her artist's books are in the collection of the University of Alabama's Book Arts program and the Hoole Rare Books Special Collections Library. Her limited-edition book of platinum images of Buddhism in Thailand by Ben Simmons is in the private collection of the King of Thailand.
