Biography

Biography

Dr. Karsten Powell is a life-long Wisconsinite who spent his first 18 years on a dairy farm outside of Barneveld, WI. Following preparation as a secondary social studies teacher, he found his life's passion in working with people with disabilities at an Easter Seal's summer camp. After completing his master's degree in special education, Dr. Powell worked as a high school special education teacher in two school districts before returning to his alma mater as a professor. Dr. Powell is a teacher educator who is passionate about preparing teachers who put their students first. He believes that teachers must understand how to collect and use data, collaborate, implement evidence-based practices, and, above all, develop meaningful relationships with their students.
