Biography
Marilyn Gardner, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Public Health and Environmental Studies, where she directs the MPH program and graduate certificate in public health. Prior to earning her doctorate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she worked in public health practice in the Mississippi delta. Dr. Gardner's areas of expertise are in behavioral change theories and program evaluation, which she has applied to various public health issues including childhood obesity, PTSD among EMS providers, childbirth experiences, and lived campus experiences of marginalized populations.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), School of Public Health, Ph.D. in Health Behavior. Emphasis in evaluation, behavioral change theory and methodology. Dissertation: Smoking Relapse: The Relationship between Self-Efficacy, Attribution, and Stage of Change.
