Biography

Ali R. Abootalebi was born in 1958 in Tehran, Iran. He has a master’s degree in international studies and political science and received his PhD from the University of Arizona in 1993. He has taught Middle Eastern and Global politics for the past 35 years. He is the (co) author of four books: Islam and Democracy: State-Society Relations in Developing Countries, 1980-1994 (New York and London: Garland Publishing, 2000); Global Politics Reader: Themes, Actors, and Issues, 1st and 2nd editions (Cognella Publishing, 2019 and 2024), and coauthored with Stephen P. Hill, Introduction to World Politics: Prospects and Challenges for the United States, 2nd edition. (Kendall Hunt, Dubuque, IA, 2018); He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and has appeared on local and national TV interviews.
