MSS Scholarships

One scholarship of $450 is available.

Available to a UW-Eau Claire student from an ethnically diverse background who has a demonstrated financial need. Preference shall be given to an ethnically diverse student who also has a disability.

Established in 2011 with an estate gift from Clarice Chase Dunn, a 1937 UW-Eau Claire graduate originally from Madison. Clarice taught in many locations, including a Japanese relocation camp during World War II. An accomplished writer, she had articles and short stories published in local papers and national magazines. In Madison, she developed classes for intellectually challenged adults and initiated a program to encourage senior citizens to write their reminiscences.

This scholarship is awarded to an African American student with a GPA of at least 3.0.

One scholarship of $500 is available.

This scholarship is awarded to an African American, Latinx, Native American, or Asian student with financial need.

A variable number of scholarships from $500 up to $1,000 are available.

The Diversity Incentive Scholarship is intended to retain students of color enrolled at UW-Eau Claire, as well as encourage student involvement in furthering equity, diversity and inclusivity at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This scholarship is funded by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

Students must be enrolled full-time, be in good academic standing, and demonstrate involvement and/or leadership in furthering equity, diversity and inclusivity. Financial need is considered but is not required to receive the scholarship. Recipients must maintain full-time status through-out the academic year in order to keep the award.

The funds for these awards will only be released to the recipients after meeting with an advisor in the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

One scholarship of $500 is available.

This is a diversity scholarship for Hispanic students.

One scholarship of $900 is available.

This scholarship provides financial incentives to student leaders who are African American, American Indian, Asian or Hispanic and who have shown leadership ability and involvement at the University. Significant involvement will be measured by the student's participation in overall campus activities as well as involvement in Office of Multicultural Affairs activities and programs. Applicants for this scholarship must be full-time students in good academic standing and sophomore standing or above.

It is preferred that the recipients be Native Americans and/or students with an interest in business pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Two scholarships from $100 up to $225 are available.

This scholarship will be awarded to student office workers in the Office of Multicultural Affairs who have shown substantial leadership ability and involvement in various assigned tasks.

Significant involvement will be measured by the student's participation in overall campus activities as well as involvement in OMA activities and programs. Applicants must be full-time undergraduates in good academic standing.

Donor Background:

This scholarship was created in 1996 by Jim Vance in appreciation of the commitment to, and support of, multicultural student workers shown by Moya Novak during her tenure as the program assistant in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. She was a friend and mentor to many students.
