Starting your Health Career Path at UW-Eau Claire

Meeting with the Health Careers Center Peer Advisors is THE FIRST STEP in planning and preparing for your health professional career.

They can help you with the following:

  • 1st year pre-health general planning (getting started)
  • Creating an academic/pre-health plan
  • Questions about registration, CampS, My Planner, Schedule Builder

Appointments are preferred, drop-in’s may be available between appointments.

Continuing or Changing your Health Career Path or Preparing for the Application Process

For students midway through their academic career who want assistance in fine tuning academic plans and timelines or to consider alternate health careers or majors, or wanting to develop your academic plan and preparing for application to schools.  

Creanna and Dr. Anderson can help you with the following:

  • Health career/major exploration
  • Health Professional or Graduate School Applications
  • Other (adding comments helps with our meeting prep)
  • Shadowing/Clinical/Research Opportunities
  • Standardized Test Preparation (MCAT, DAT, GRE, Etc.)
  • Update and Review pre-health academic plans
  • Interview Preparation
  • Personal Statement Review - See details below on how to schedule and prepare for personal statement review appointments.

Please be sure to provide comments when making the appointment about specific topics or questions you may have. This will help us prepare for your meeting and make good use out of the time in our appointment.

Preparing to write a personal statement? Request assistance from the Health Careers Center staff on writing and editing your personal statement.

The Health Careers Center is committed to helping you succeed as you apply to professional school. Writing a strong personal statement is one important component of the admissions process.

To submit a personal statement for review and schedule an appointment with the Health Careers Center, please complete the following:

Complete Qualtrics form (below) and submit personal statement.

Use the qualtrics link below to answer some brief questions and attach your personal statement as a word document in the qualtrics form.

Check your E-mail and schedule an appointment using link provided in confirmation e-mail.

An email will be sent within 1-2 business days with details on how to schedule.

Meet with Health Careers Center staff to discuss feedback and complete revisions.

Meetings can be scheduled virtually or in person and students can meet with HCC staff up to 4 times to revise and discuss their personal statement.
