Intro

Tutoring Center

The Chemistry and Biochemistry Tutoring center is located in Phillips 426, and is staffed Monday through Thursday 1 to 5 PM, and Friday 1 to 3 PM, by chemistry and biochemistry students with prior experience in our lower level courses. In addition to tutoring, Phillips 426 is also a social room space with free coffee, a refrigerator, and a microwave. The tutoring center is great place to study regardless of whether or not you have questions — you can meet other chemistry students, make new friends, and learn more about various opportunities within the department. Plus, if you do have questions, you will be where you need to be for answers, with tutors in the room and helpful faculty just down the hall.

Peer Mentors

Our Peer Mentors are available to provide Chemistry and Biochemistry students with support and guidance for both academic and non-academic challenges, such as: Registration questions, choosing a major, time management, finding housing, navigating campus life, finding research opportunities, and more. Each has a designated office hour, and you can contact them via email with your questions.

The purpose of these mentors is to help you navigate your path forward, and get connected in the student community on the "chem floor" (4th floor Phillips).

Though each mentor is connected to a course section as an SAA or has some other administrative responsibility related to instructional support - the intent is that they are available to all students. So, if you have any questions or concerns that they me be be able to help you with, please reach out to them via email or drop into an office hour.

The Chemistry and Biochemistry Peer Mentoring Program is made possible by the generous support of the Xcel Energy Foundation.
