Intro

This fund supports LGBTQ+ students who want to attend a queer-focused event at UWEC or in the surrounding area. Its purpose is to encourage the participation of low-income LGBTQ+ students in events that are affirming and inclusive.

Widgets

Policing of “gender-appropriate” clothing and the lack of a Wisconsin state statute protecting gender identity in employment has led to widespread discrimination against LGBTQ+ people, especially those who present as gender nonconforming, in the job market. As a result, many LGBTQ+ students face severe economic hardships, which furthers their marginalization.

This LGBTQ+ Equity Event Fund can be used for event tickets and transportation costs. Students are encouraged to apply for these funds one month before the event they wish to attend.
