Congratulations! Here's what to do next

Widgets

Now that you have applied and been accepted to your graduate program, we want to make sure you have what you need to officially become a Blugold. Check out your next steps below and let us know if you have any questions.

01
Activate Your Student Account

If you haven’t already done so, activate your account. To activate your account, you will need your UWEC username, campus ID, DOB, and last four digits of your social security number. Your username and campus ID can be found in your letter of acceptance or the application acknowledgment email.

If you were recently enrolled at UWEC and your account is still active, you may log in with your existing username and password. You may reset your password at any time.  If you are unable to sign into CampS, contact the LTS Help Desk at helpdesk@uwec.edu.

02
Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (Okta Verify)

Okta adds another layer of protection to your account and information by requiring an additional verification step to log in. In addition to entering your password, Okta notifies you if someone logs into your account, prompting you to either allow or deny the login. Learn how to set up multi-factor authentication here.

03
Apply For Financial Aid

Financial aid is based on filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligibility for need-based aid is determined through the completion of the FAFSA.

04
Apply for Assistantships, Fellowships, and AOP Grants

Consider applying for a graduate assistantship, fellowship, and/or Advanced Opportunity Program (AOP) grant (March 1 priority deadline). Learn more about the options available to you! We also recommend contacting the department of your intended program to learn about any available scholarships.

05
Reciprocity

The current reciprocity agreement between Minnesota and Wisconsin enables a Minnesota resident to attend Wisconsin public institutions of higher education at rates approximating tuition prevailing in the Minnesota State University System. You may apply online at Online Tuition Reciprocity Application or, if you have additional questions about reciprocity, contact the Minnesota Office of Higher Education at (800) 657-3866.

06
Prepare For Registration

Before registering each term, log into CampS and accept the Payment Plan Agreement (PPA), verify contact information, and clear any “Holds” and items under your “To Do List.” Clear all holds until your Self-Service page reads “No Holds” and “No To Do’s.” If you have any questions about your holds or to-do’s, contact Blugold Central at 715-836-3000.

07
Consult With Your Advisor And Register For Classes

This article describes how to plan and validate your course schedule, as well as enroll in classes through CampS. Regular consultation and program planning with your advisor should help assure all requirements are met. You may also access your degree and graduation requirements by requesting an online Degree Audit within CampS or by checking the Graduate Catalog of the year you were accepted to the program.

Check with your department to find out if your program requires an orientation and/or advising session before registering.
