Orientation for Transfer Students
Transfer Student Orientation
Congratulations on being admitted to UW-Eau Claire! We are excited to officially welcome you to the Blugold family. Below you'll find some resources and important information to help you acclimate to UWEC.
We are here to help you navigate through the initial steps of becoming a Blugold successfully. If you have questions or concerns about the following items, please reach out to our Orientation Team at 715-836-5053 or orientation@uwec.edu.
NOTE: Information is applicable to incoming Spring 2025 transfer admits. Incoming Fall 2025 admits will begin receiving information via email in March of 2025.
Prepping for + Attending your Advising Meeting
If you have not activated your UW-Eau Claire account or need to reset your password, visit myusername.uwec.edu. You will need your username and Campus ID, which can be found in your admit letter or application acknowledgment email.
Check your UW-Eau Claire email account for information about scheduling an appointment with your advisor.
All transfer students are required to complete a transfer advising and registration appointment before enrolling in classes. You’ll have the opportunity to meet your advisor, learn how your credits transfer to UW-Eau Claire and discuss other campus resources.
Once you've been admitted and processed into our system, it can take 3-5 business days for your advisor to be assigned and notified. Advisors will reach out to you first to connect, and then you can work together to schedule an appointment to discuss course. Then:
If you are having a video call or phone appointment:
- Please have access to a computer with Internet access, and have all the materials that you were sent from your advisor available for the meeting.
- UW-Eau Claire is located in the central time zone.
If you are having an in-person appointment:
- Please contact the Flesch Family Welcome Center two days in advance to request a free visitor parking permit: 715-836-2544. The Welcome Center is located at 127 Roosevelt Ave.
- If you are interested in a campus tour, please contact Admissions at 715-836-5415 or visit their website.
Please plan on 60 minutes for the appointment.
Transfer students should be notified by their Advising, Retention, and Career Center (ARCC) advisor if placement tests are needed, but it's always helpful to reach out if you're uncertain. Should it be determined that you need to complete Placement tests, more detailed information on the transfer student testing process can be found here.
You'll want to login to CampS to familiarize yourself with the platform, and take care of any academic holds before your advising appointment (view instructions via links/videos provided below). CampS is the platform you will use to sign up for classes, update your contact information, view your grades, and much more! Feel free to jump back to these videos for future semesters; note - some videos do not have sound.

Blugold Experience Day, Blugold Welcome, And The Start of Classes
Blugold Experience Day is our in-person, on campus orientation program. During Blugold Experience Days, students and their guests can tour our beautiful campus and residence halls, connect with staff, faculty, and other Blugolds, dine on campus, attend a resource fair and other sessions, check out places in the community, and much more! Programming is subject to change, and registration is required.
Our spring 2025 Blugold Experience Day for transfer students will be Friday, January 24, 2025.
For more information and to register, visit our Blugold Experience Day webpage.
To set up your Blugold Mobile ID, you must download the eAccounts app, authenticate with your university credentials and then add your Blugold card to Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or Samsung Wallet. Students are required to select and upload their own photo and copy of drivers license or government issued ID for their Blugold photo ID.
If you have any questions or concerns about this process, reach out to 715-836-4070. More information can be found here: /node/7590
Spring Blugold Welcome programming will occur from Wednesday, January 22 - Sunday, January 26, 2025.
Stay tuned to your UWEC email and this webpage for updates as we finalize events for the coming semesters!
Our Office of Health Promotion on campus hosts two trainings that all students are required to complete in their first semester - failure to complete these trainings by the due date will place a hold on the student's account that prevents them from registering for the next semester, so it's important to get these done early!
- Sexual Violence Prevention Training (through CANVAS)
- Alcohol EDU (through VECTOR SOLUTIONS)
Stay on top of your email in the first semester so you don't miss a reminder to complete these trainings.
[1] Apply for on-campus housing
If you plan to live on campus, please start by submitting your housing application, found on the housing website.
[2] Apply for financial aid
If you plan to receive financial aid and have not completed your FAFSA, you will need to apply as soon as possible. Please visit the Financial Aid website for additional information.
[3] Submit your AP (Advanced Placement) score reports
If you have received credit from an AP exam, this credit does not automatically transfer. You must have the score report sent to UW-Eau Claire (from ETS) or bring your copy of the official score report to the Academic Testing Office, 2100 Vicki Lord Larson Hall. Since this will affect your registration appointment time, you should do this as soon as possible.
[4] View required textbooks
UW-Eau Claire has a great textbook rental program! After you've registered, you can access your textbook list in CampS. From your Student Center, click "Manage Classes", then "My Classes/Schedule" and then "Books/Materials by Author" for the full list. The Bookstore is located in Davies Center, on lower campus.

Apps for Blugolds
UW-Eau Claire offers free apps to all Blugolds, each offering unique benefits and helpful ways for you to stay connected.
Navigate Student
Navigate Student is a personalized app all Blugolds are strongly encouraged to download. Designed to help you adjust and excel during your first year at UWEC, Navigate includes important reminders, to-do's, schedules and upcoming deadlines specific to you. It is also the primary way to schedule appointments with faculty and staff. It is recommended you download the app as soon as possible, as important messages are communicated through the app throughout the year.
Handshake
Handshake connects you with thousands of employers — and work opportunities — across the globe and right here in Eau Claire. Used heavily by our Career Center and employer partners, Handshake allows you to explore work-study opportunities and part-time jobs, discover internships, apply for jobs, and read company reviews — all in one spot.
Blugold Connect+
Blugold Connect+ was created to provide more of a “one-stop shop” for making connections on campus. The highly intuitive, multipurpose student experience app/platform will maximize ways for students to get connected prior to arriving on campus, throughout their college journey and beyond. Read more about this app's features here. This will be the primary way you hear about student organizations, and major events that happen on campus.
Each of these apps are free, and can be found in the Google Play Store or in the App Store.
