Teaching and Research Interests
I am dedicated to assisting students, faculty, staff, and external users in utilizing the Materials Science Center's instrumentation. Please contact me for training and access. Our center offers a wide range of instruments for your use. Additionally, I collaborate with external companies to provide access to instrumentation, sample analysis, and failure analysis. The instruments are broadly categorized as follows:
- Imaging (scanning electron microscopes, confocal microscopes, research grade microscopes)
- Elemental analysis (energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy on the scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence, microwave plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)
- Molecular analysis (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, confocal Raman microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry)
- Structural analysis (Instron tensile/fatigue/impact testing, powder X-ray diffraction, impact testing, hardness testing, atomic force microscopy, rheometer)
- Sample preparation (cutting, polishing, grinding, press-mounting, microwave digesting, spin coating)
