Biography

Biography

Philadelphia, Chicago, and Hartland, WI, are all places I called home while growing up. As an adult, I spent my life moving from Wausau, WI (pharmaceutical sales), to Columbus, OH (graduate school), to Boston, MA, to Chippewa Falls, WI, then to River Falls, Wisconsin.

Throughout all these years, I've been a college professor and a consultant. My specialty area is Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management and teaching in MBA and undergrad programs. I also used to conduct training and development workshops for organizations such as Mayo Clinic, Milwaukee Children's Hospital, Eli Lilly, Johnsonville Sausage, and Wausau Homes. Before that, I conducted Work life assessments for companies when they began figuring out that there was, indeed, a difficult juggling of work and family for their employees. This type of work is what led to the development of flexible work options, job sharing, day care options, and other programs and policies that are still all too rare.

I joined the faculty of UW-River Falls in 2000 and spent a lot of time with international programs. I've participated in the Scotland, China, International Traveling Classroom (Europe) programs, taught in Taiwan, and led three J-terms trips to South East Asia. I retired from UWRF in May 2023 (professor emeritus) and looking forward to new endeavors. I was recently elected to the Wisconsin Pierce County Board of Supervisors. I also really enjoy teaching leadership and organizational behavior for UW-Eau Claire.
