A degree in business communication from UW-Eau Claire equips students with the marketable skills needed to excel in a global marketplace.

Our graduates emerge as confident communicators, adept in both digital and traditional platforms. You'll be a top candidate for in-demand careers, such as internal communication or corporate communications specialists. These roles require coordinating, creating and disseminating communications across all functional areas in a business — from marketing to accounting to top-level management — as well as executing external communication with customers, vendors and other stakeholders. As a result, you will develop oral, visual, and written communication skills that enable you to contribute effectively as an individual and on a team via presentations, meetings, roundtable discussions and interviews. SampleCourses

Classes in accounting, management, marketing and information systems paired with business communication courses will enable you to become a well-rounded communicator overall. Coursework will also familiarize you with various communication technologies and visual communication fundamentals. This major's courses are primarily delivered in person, with some hybrid, high-flex and online options available as well.

Communicating in Workplace Relationships

This course is designed to enhance students' understanding of the multiple workplace relationships employees may experience in their organization and to develop the business communication skillset necessary to navigate these relationships. Particular emphasis is placed on experiential learning to improve students’ ability to communicate successfully in workplace relationships. Students will author a business communication case study and lead peers through a discussion of the case, conduct informational interviews with full-time working adults on their experiences in workplace relationships and provide an analysis of those experiences, use articles to generate recommendations on how to communicate competently in workplace relationships, and develop and facilitate a training workshop designed to improve some aspect of workplace relationships.

Advanced Business Communication

An in-depth application of business communication skills. As internal communication specialists, students work in teams to prepare, organize, and deliver business communication training seminars. The course format is an applied business communication context.
