Music and Theatre Arts: Lecturer in Music (Choral Conductor-Music Educator)

POSITION:
The Department of Music and Theatre Arts is searching for two Choral Conductors-Music Educators, in full-time (100%) instructional academic staff positions for the 2025-2026 academic year, beginning August 18, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in music education or choral conducting required, doctoral degree preferred. Demonstrated success as a choral conductor, and a minimum of three years of demonstrated success as a middle or high school choral music teacher is required. Experience teaching choirs at the collegiate level is desired. Commitment to equity and inclusiveness and/or ability to bring diverse perspectives and experiences to campus is desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exact distribution of conducting and teaching duties between the two hires will be determined based on candidate experience and departmental need, but will include equal division of the following choirs and courses. Conduct Women’s Concert Chorale, Concert Choir, The Singing Statesmen, Symphonic Choir, and Chamber Choir. Teach Choral Literature and Conducting, Choral Teaching Methods, and Conducting. Observe choral music education student teachers. Both positions will include load time to coordinate and oversee choir tours, clinics, and festivals, and to oversee and administrate a student-led show choir production. Participate in recruiting and choral area events.
DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Music and Theatre Arts serves approximately 400 majors and minors supported by 31 full-time and 10 part-time faculty. UW-Eau Claire has a large and respected Voice and Choral Area, with five choirs, and strong opera and musical theater programs. The department and its musical programs are highly regarded in the state and region and enrich the Eau Claire community while providing outstanding academic opportunities. Our faculty are well known for the quality of their performances and for their innovative teaching. Academic programs include the BM degree in performance and composition, the BME degree in instrumental and choral music education, and the BA and BS degrees in music and musical theatre.
