POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in the Mark Stephen Cosby Honors College beginning June 1, 2025. The working title for this assignment is Assistant Director with an official title of Academic Program Specialist. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required
  • Experience teaching and/or advising at the university level
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with or knowledge of nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships
  • Experience with or knowledge of high-impact practices including faculty-student collaborative research, travel study, internships, experiential learning, and/or community-engaged learning
  • Experience in Honors education or working with high-achieving students

KEY DUTIES:

  • Develop a recruiting pipeline for students interested in nationally competitive fellowships.
  • Build relationships with the Center for International Education, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, McNair, academic departments, and faculty to identify high-potential students.
  • Mentor students in the application process, including identifying awards, writing materials, soliciting letters of recommendation, interview preparation, and more.
  • Maintain relationships with awarding organizations and the National Association of Fellowship Advisors to ensure knowledge of recent developments and best practices.
  • Provide Honors-specific advising that focuses on connecting students with high-impact opportunities within and beyond Honors and planning for post-graduation.
  • Develop and lead professionalization programming for Honors students through co-curricular events.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development for HNRS 400, the Honors Senior Seminar (1 credit hour), and teach one section each semester.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development for HNRS 100, the Honors First-Year Seminar (1 credit hour) and HNRS 410, Mentoring in Honors (1 credit hour); teach one section of each course per year.
  • Collaborate on Honors recruiting efforts, including developing recruitment strategies, designing materials, working with the Admissions Office, and representing the Honors College at visit days, and meeting with prospective students.
  • Provide support for other Honors College projects related to program development, curriculum, student engagement, communications, large events, supervision of student staff, and budgeting as needed.

The Mark Stephen Cosby Honors College at UW-Eau Claire supports and challenges a diverse group of about 850 high-achieving, highly motivated students. The Honors Program offers a 26-credit curriculum that provides students with transformational educational opportunities through discussion-focused liberal education core coursework, independent projects, leadership and teaching experiences, faculty-student research collaborations, study-abroad experiences, and more.
