POSITION: A full-time university staff position is available in Facilities beginning as soon as possible. The official title for this assignment is Heat/Cool Plant Operator I with a working title of Boiler Operator. This is an expected-to-continue assignment, which requires a twelve-month probationary period during which all operational aspects of the heating plant will be learned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Clean Driving Record to allow driving State vehicles.
  • General computer and keyboard skills
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, lift, and climb ladders.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • High level of dedication to quality service by interacting directly with students, staff or other external customers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Military Service
  • Graduate of Building, Utility, or Maintenance related program with two years of experience in a related field.
  • Boiler License from an accredited organization or three years of experience operating and maintaining boilers.
  • Industrial maintenance experience repairing motors, pumps, fans, or gear reductions.
  • Experience with metal fabrication.

DUTIES: This entry level position is responsible for assisting and learning the operation, monitoring, and/or maintenance of gas and/or oil-fired boilers, and related auxiliary equipment in compliance with all applicable regulations and utilizing appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
