English (Barron County Campus): Lecturer
Job Information
POSITION: A one year lecturer position is available in English and Writing at UW-Eau Claire--Barron County, the two-year branch campus located in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The campus seeks a dynamic candidate who is committed to teaching excellence and working with first- and second-year students. Aligned with the recently completed campus strategic plan, the campus also seeks individuals who are committed to incorporating student-centered, experiential learning opportunities, ranging from service learning to undergraduate research, into the curriculum.
This appointment is a one year appointment beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year, August 22, 2025; reappointment is contingent on performance and budget.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned a masters in English or related field by August 18, 2025. (ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by March 20, 2025.) The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of a record of excellence in teaching writing at the college level. Candidates must have at least one year of experience teaching college composition.

• Earned doctorate in English or related field;
• A solid foundation in teaching pedagogy;
• Experience with a range of student ability;
• Experience with multilingual writers;
• Experience with writing assessment;
• Experience with digital media/multimodal composition/21st century literacies;
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusiveness, and anti-racism.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will teach 15 credits each semester. The candidate will teach introductory courses in English and writing based on student/program needs and selected English courses in accordance with the candidate’s specialization. A primary duty will be participation in the first-year writing program, the Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing. The assignment may include face-to-face delivery of the Blugold Seminar to students on the Eau Claire campus or via interactive television to regional high school students enrolled in dual-credit option programs.
DEPARTMENT: The Barron County campus consists of 7 full-time faculty along with 20 adjunct instructors, all of whom are part of a single disciplinary department.

Eau Claire, located 50 miles south of Rice Lake, is the home of the main campus of UW-Eau Claire and to major retail, cultural, and health care organizations for the region. Rice Lake is also approximately 90 miles from Minneapolis-St. Paul, which additionally offers world-class theater, symphony and chamber orchestras, opera, and major league sports.
