POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in the Advising, Retention & Career Center beginning February 1, 2025. The working title for this assignment is Career Counselor with an official title of Career Development Coordinator. This is an expected to continue assignment which requires a six-month probationary period. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Recent experience working in higher education or recruiting and an ability to provide career counseling and group presentations to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team are needed.

Experience coaching others, using communication and presentation skills, and a demonstrated commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds are required. Needed technical skills include Microsoft Office and the ability to access and edit databases.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Recent work experience with SMS or CRM, large-scale event planning, and employer relations experience are preferred. Experience coaching on the topics of resume writing, interviewing, internship and job search strategies. Demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff.

DUTIES: Provide individual career counseling assistance and class presentations to undergraduate and graduate students. Coach students from all Colleges on the benefits and process of obtaining internships, including resume and cover letter development, professional networking, salary negotiation, and interviewing. Working with others serve as a campus resource for promoting post-graduation jobs and internships to internal and external sources- faculty, staff, alumni, community members, prospective students, and families. Build and maintain relationships with local and regional recruiters. Plan, execute, and assess career readiness and integration of careers into the curriculum. Work closely with the Outreach Counselors to connect students to employers and attend career-related events. Complete projects for the office that help promote Career Services to students and faculty.

THE UNIT: The unit of the Advising, Retention & Career Center consists of 40 staff members with a mission to empower students in their academic and professional goals.
