Economics: Assistant Professor

POSITION: A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor is available in the Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences. The department seeks a candidate with expertise in economics committed to teaching excellence and maintaining an active research program involving undergraduates. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year, August 17, 2025. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in economics by Aug 17th, 2025. The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach the principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and upper-division economics classes as needed and promote inclusiveness and diversity in the classroom, the department, and the university community. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of successful university teaching, willingness to teach 300-level economics courses in international economics, sports economics, or a course in the economics of gender and race. 

DUTIES: Teach courses in the Department of Economics based on program needs and in accordance with specialization; participate in research and scholarly activities; [develop and/or maintain a scholarly research agenda that includes undergraduate co-researchers;] provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, University and profession.

DEPARTMENTThe Department of Economics has 7 full-time faculty and staff members and roughly 100 students majoring or minoring in 3 programs.
