Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning: Online Program Coordinator and Instructional Designer

POSITIONA full-time, professional academic staff position is available in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) beginning July 15, 2024. The working title for this position is Online Program Coordinator and Instructional Designer with an official title in the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Specialist III title series.  This is a renewable assignment, contingent on performance and funding. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA Bachelor's degree in the area of educational technology, instructional design, training and development, or related field is required; knowledge of current practices in inclusive pedagogy, assessment, and online teaching; demonstrated skills in project creation, development, implementation, and evaluation; demonstrated ability to be detail orientated, manage multiple tasks, follow-up, and deadlines; experience creating resources and professional development for online course development, and/or teaching with technology. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in a related field, teaching experience, knowledge of instructional design models and practices, experience in providing technical support, working knowledge of HTML, and ability to diagnose and solve complex technical problems.

DUTIES: The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) seeks an Online Program Coordinator and Instructional Designer to coordinate and manage online programming for UW-Eau Claire. This position will manage online programming and assist in instructional design for instructors creating and revising courses. As part of a collaborative team, the Online Program Coordinator will assist in coordinating online program development processes associated with program prioritization and planning for revisions of existing programs. This position collaborates with the Associate Director in CETL in developing and maintaining a system for program development, planning, and maintenance. Also, the position works closely with instructors and instructional academic staff to create high-quality online courses. 

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, facilitate, and assess programming for teaching, learning, and assessment for faculty with all levels of teaching experience.
  • Develop strategies and objectives for online program success that coordinate with the campus strategic plan. 
  • Provide effective project management and overall coordination of online program development in collaboration with Learning and Technology Services         partners.
  • Monitor and manage the online program development budget.
  • Prepare reports for online programming stakeholders, highlighting progress and outcomes. 
  • Designs and develops engaging, effective learning experiences for online courses.
  • Collaborate with faculty and key stakeholders to create high-quality, academically rigorous, engaging online courses.
  • Utilize expertise in Universal Design for Learning, adult learning theory, digital accessibility, and online pedagogy to develop curriculum for courses and program-level alignment.
  • Create resources and professional development for online course development and teaching with technology.
  • Assist the Associate Director with duties as assigned.

THE UNITThe unit of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning consists of three staff members that provide programming and assistance for faculty and staff to enhance their work as educators. The unit offers inclusive space for faculty and staff to meet professional growth. We focus on teaching, learning, and instructional technology.
