Chemistry and Biochemistry Seminar
Launch Your Career in Chemistry
The Chemistry and Biochemistry Seminar Series is far more than a guest lecture series – it is an opportunity to explore careers and options for graduate school, as well as make contacts with professionals in the field who can help propel your career.
The fall program features speakers from the private sector and showcases a variety of possible career paths for Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Chemistry-with-Business Emphasis majors. Many of these speakers are proud Blugold alumni, and are eager to help our students move ahead in their careers. Students have the option of enrolling in CHEM 374 (Chemical Industry Seminar), where they learn to build resumés, write cover letters, and interview effectively.
The spring program features mainly academic speakers who present their research and showcase graduate school opportunities. Make no mistake about it – our graduates are highly sought, and these individuals are recruiting for MS and PhD programs. Interested students can enroll in CHEM 375 (Frontiers in Chemical Research) to develop professional skills needed for graduate school as well as strategies for finding the right program and preparing an effective application.
The seminars take place Phillips 413 on Fridays from 12-12:50 p.m.
Students are invited to meet informally with the speaker for conversation and Q&A from 11:30-11:55 a.m. Snacks and refreshments will be available.
