Congratulations on your acceptance! Here are you next steps to start your academic journey:

01
Add UWEC to your safe senders list

You will be receiving important information from UW-Eau Claire via email. To make sure you receive it, add @uwec.edu to your safe senders list. If you don't see any communication from us within three days, check your spam/promotional folders in your email!

02
Activate your account

To activate your account, you will need your username and campus ID, which can be found in your admit letter or application acknowledgement email. You will also need your birthdate and the last 4 of your social security number (or UWEC PIN if you did not provide your social security number on your application).

03
Set up multi-factor authentication (Okta Verify)

Okta adds another layer of protection to your account and information by requiring an additional verification step to log in. In addition to entering your password, Okta notifies you if someone logs into your account, prompting you to either allow or deny the login.

04
Sign the Payment Plan Agreement (PPA)

Prior to enrolling in courses, all students must complete the Payment Plan Agreement (PPA), which includes important information about the billing and payment process.

Click here to sign your PPA and take care of any other holds on your account. (View a video tutorial here to walk you through the steps.)

05
Complete placement tests (if applicable)

An academic advisor will inform you if your course selections require a placement exam. Placement tests are completed online and need to be completed at least two weeks prior to course enrollment. Learn more here.

06
Meet with an Academic Advisor (if applicable)

High school students can meet with an academic advisor prior to enrolling in courses. Academic advisors will contact you in January for spring courses and August for fall courses.

Students enrolling in UWX courses must meet with an academic advisor prior to enrolling in courses. UWX courses require a permission number to enroll during the advising meeting.

07
Enroll in classes

Course enrollment for high school students begins during the following times:

  • Fall courses: late August
  • Spring courses: late January
  • Summer courses: late February

You will receive communication from an academic advisor about enrolling in courses and/or the opportunity to attend an on-site enrollment event at either campus.

Students participating in MOU courses are automatically enrolled in the agreed upon courses.

08
Confirm your course start date

If you are taking classes in person at your high school (MOU), all course information and questions will be handled by your high school instructor.

In-person or online courses at UW-Eau Claire and UW-Eau Claire – Barron County begin on January 27 for Spring 2025 and September 3 for Fall 2025. You can access your courses through Canvas. Courses are not typically made available on Canvas until the day that classes begin.

Online courses through UW Extended Campus (UWX) begin on January 28 for Spring 2025 and September 2 for Fall 2025. You can access your courses through Canvas.

Important Links + Resources

MyBlugold: This is a landing page for all websites and portals you will need, including:

  • UWEC Webmail: Plan to check your email daily! Your email will be activated after you are enrolled in courses. Your email address is your UWEC username followed by @uwec.edu (e.g. username@uwec.edu). You can find instructions for adding your UWEC email to your iPhone, Android or Samsung device on our website.
  • Canvas: Instructor contact information and course information for UW-Eau Claire, UWEC-Barron County and UWX courses.
  • CampS: UWEC student portal for enrolling in courses, viewing student account information, clearing PPA holds and viewing finalized grades.

Tuition + Bills: You may receive information about tuition and bills due for your courses. Most high school special students’ bills are paid by the cooperating high school or district. Please do not be concerned about bills on your account unless your family is planning to pay for the course instead of the school/district.

Technology Help: For any issues with your username, password, or technology related to your college coursework, contact the Learning and Technology (LTS) Help Desk at helpdesk@uwec.edu or 715-836-5711.

Enrollment Changes: Remember that the courses you are enrolled in are establishing a college transcript for your future. If your plans change for any reason, please notify your high school counselor and collegecredit@uwec.edu as soon as possible to avoid additional fees or demerits on your college transcript.
