Management and Leadership Programs Department

The Management and Leadership Programs Departmental Honors provides students pursuing a major within the Management and Leadership Programs Department with opportunities for academic enrichment and challenge beyond usual course coverage and requirements. The program encourages and enables outstanding students to pursue high-level internships, collaborative research projects, and other high-impact practices.

An internship gives you hands-on experience in your chosen profession. You will learn more about your major, make important connections and gain self-confidence. Internships offer diverse formats, including paid or unpaid positions, part-time or full-time commitments, and the option for university credits or non-credit learning experiences, allowing you to tailor the experience to your needs and goals. Health care administration majors participate in a 12-month paid administrative residency in a long-term care facility offering an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the field while bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical experience.

While Health Care Administration majors must undertake an internship/residency within the department of Management and Leadership Programs, all other students in the department are highly encouraged to pursue at least one internship throughout their college journey.

As the center of undergraduate research in Wisconsin, UW-Eau Claire undergraduate students can engage in scholarly research or creative projects given to graduate students at larger universities. Students in the Management and Leadership Programs Department have presented their research at local, regional, and national conferences such as Research in the Rotunda hosted at the state Capitol.
