EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Office of Multicultural Affairs will host the 23rd annual Culture Core event from 4-8 p.m. March 9 in the Ojibwe Ballroom of Davies Center. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m.
The theme of this year's event, which is hosted by the Hmong Student Association, is "generation shifts." The purpose of the event is to educate and share with the public the Hmong culture, experiences and contemporary issues in America.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will include food, live entertainment, speakers, art displays and workshops.
According to Choua Xiong, HSA president, this is the second year that the event will follow a conference style. There are a total of three workshops, including a panel discussion and keynote speaker.
"This year HSA has reached out to community leaders, social justice advocates and academic scholars to create an inclusive perspective on the Hmong people's development in America," Xiong said.
Interested students are asked to reserve a spot by March 1. For more information or to RSVP, contact Choua Xiong at firstname.lastname@example.org.
